Cultivation of cannabis, the plant that marijuana and marijuana products are made from, is prohibited by Nevada and Federal law under most circumstances. However, there are certain exceptions under Nevada law that may protect individuals and groups from criminal prosecution.

For example, state licensed medical marijuana cultivation facilities may cultivate marijuana for medical purposes so long as they remain in compliance with state and local regulations. For more information on how to become a state licensed medical marijuana cultivator click here

Additionally, depending on the circumstances patients may be allowed to cultivate their own small amounts of marijuana. At present patients may grow seven marijuana plants, three mature and four immature. Once SB374 takes affect certain patients will be able to grow twelve plants regardless of their maturity.
