Derek J. Connor Esq.

Derek J. Connor Esq. was born and raised in Alaska where his family operated a small business. Following high school Derek served on active duty in the United States Navy from 2000-2004 aboard amphibious landing ship, USS Comstock. While serving in the Navy, Derek was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2001-2002 and Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003-2004. Derek was honorably discharged from active duty in October 2004 and remained in the reserves until 2008.

After being discharged from active duty, Derek attended New Mexico State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, with Honors. Derek was selected to the Gamma Beta Phi academic honor society in recognition of his academic achievements while at New Mexico State.

Derek then attended the University of New Mexico School of Law where he was an editor of the New Mexico Law Review, President of the Veterans Association and President of the Federalist Society. Following law school Derek worked at the civil litigation firm of Guebert Bruckner P.C. in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Derek later relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada to work at a boutique insurance defense firm where his practice focused on defending individuals and businesses facing litigation. Determining that he could provide better service to his clients by running his own practice, Derek founded the law firm of Connor & Connor Pllc. with his wife, Amanda, in 2012. Derek’s practice has focused largely on civil litigation, business planning and providing legal advice to clients regarding Nevada’s complex marijuana laws.

Derek is licensed to practice law in Nevada and New Mexico.  Since founding his law firm Derek has appeared in numerous news outlets, trade magazines, and local publications including National Public Radio, Fox 5 News, 8 News Now, and Vegas Cannabis Magazine among others.

Amanda N Connor, Esq.

Amanda N. Connor was raised in Deming, New Mexico. After valedictorian from high school, Amanda attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts. Amanda then received a Masters in Education from the University of California San Diego, also graduating Magna Cum Laude.

While working as a dual language kindergarten teacher in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Amanda received her Masters of Administration from New Mexico State University graduating with Honors. Amanda then attended the University of New Mexico School of Law where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. During law school, Amanda was an editor on the New Mexico Law Review and active in several student organizations.

Since leaving law school Amanda’s practice has focused on cannabis law, business formation and litigation. Amanda worked for Peifer, Hansen & Mullins, P.A. in Albuquerque, New Mexico and for Albuquerque Business Law before starting a boutique law firm – Connor & Connor PLLC – with her husband. Connor & Connor PLLC practices in personal injury, business law, and provides legal advice regarding medical marijuana laws.

Amanda is licensed to practice in Nevada and New Mexico.

Kevin M Brenner, Esq.

Kevin M. Brenner was born in Connecticut and raised in San Diego, California. He attended California State University, San Marcos and received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Justice Studies. He then attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he gained valuable experience working in the school’s Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic. Kevin also completed an internship at a personal-injury firm during law school. After graduating, Kevin moved to Las Vegas and worked as a law clerk at Connor & Connor PLLC prior to passing the bar and becoming an associate attorney. Kevin is licensed to practice in Nevada.

Bailey R. Karas, Esq.

Bailey R. Karas was born in Minnesota but predominantly grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and considers herself a near-native. Bailey attended the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice while simultaneously completing the Honors College curriculum. 

Following undergrad, Bailey obtained her Juris Doctor from the William S. Boyd School of Law. During her time in law school, Bailey completed an externship with the Clark County Public Defender’s Office and an internship with Fennemore Craig. She was also admitted to Boyd’s Education Advocacy Clinic. 

Prior to joining Connor & Connor, Bailey practiced immigration law representing families and businesses, defended individuals and businesses in civil litigation, and represented children in special education law.

Bailey is licensed to practice in Nevada.

Jennifer Yee, Esq.

Contract Attorney

Jennifer Yee was born and raised in Oakton, Virginia, about 20 miles from our nation’s capital. She attended the University of Virginia where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her nursing career in Chicago, Illinois where she continued her educational endeavors and received her Master of Science in Nursing and her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from Rush University.

After working for a few years in Indiana, she relocated to Las Vegas where she worked as an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner, opened and managed the family Orthopedic Surgery practice, and raised her three kids. Jennifer has always had an interest in the law and pursued her degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas- William S. Boyd School of Law graduating Cum Laude with a Concentration in Dispute Resolution and Health Law.

After passing the Nevada Bar, Jennifer worked with the Nevada Eviction Mediation Program, assisting landlords and tenants throughout the state with COVID relief programs. She also currently serves on the Nevada Medical Center Board. Jennifer is licensed to practice law in Nevada.
