Derek J. Connor, Esq.
Derek J. Connor was born and raised in Alaska where his family operated a small business. Following high school Derek served on active duty in the United States Navy from 2000-2004 aboard amphibious landing ship, USS Comstock. While serving in the Navy, Derek was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2001-2002 and Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003-2004. Derek was honorably discharged from active duty in October 2004 and remained in the reserves until 2008.
After being discharged from active duty, Derek attended New Mexico State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, with Honors. Derek was selected to the Gamma Beta Phi academic honor society in recognition of his academic achievements while at New Mexico State.
Derek then attended the University of New Mexico School of Law where he was an editor of the New Mexico Law Review, President of the Veterans Association and President of the Federalist Society. Following law school Derek worked at the civil litigation firm of Guebert Bruckner P.C. in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Derek later relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada to work at a boutique insurance defense firm where his practice focused on defending individuals and businesses facing litigation. Determining that he could provide better service to his clients by running his own practice, Derek founded the law firm of Connor & Connor Pllc. with his wife, Amanda, in 2012. Derek’s practice has focused largely on civil litigation, business planning and providing legal advice to clients regarding Nevada’s complex marijuana laws.
Derek is licensed to practice law in Nevada and New Mexico. Since founding his law firm Derek has appeared in numerous news outlets, trade magazines, and local publications including National Public Radio, Fox 5 News, 8 News Now, and Vegas Cannabis Magazine among others.

Amanda N. Connor, Esq.
Amanda N. Connor is a business and cannabis attorney and co-founder of Connor & Connor PLLC, where she advises business owners on how to start, structure, and protect their companies. Her practice focuses on business law, contracts, disputes, and regulatory matters, including extensive experience representing clients in the cannabis industry.
Amanda brings a unique perspective to her legal practice, combining a background in education with a clear, real-world approach to advising clients. Before becoming an attorney, she worked as a dual language kindergarten teacher in Las Cruces, New Mexico, an experience that continues to shape how she communicates complex legal concepts: simply, directly, and in a way clients can actually use.
Amanda was raised in Deming, New Mexico, and graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. She earned her Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Pepperdine University, followed by a Master’s in Education, magna cum laude, from University of California San Diego. While teaching, she also earned a Master’s of Administration with honors from New Mexico State University.
She later received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she served as an editor on the New Mexico Law Review and was active in multiple student organizations.
Prior to co-founding Connor & Connor PLLC, Amanda practiced with firms in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Today, she advises both traditional businesses and cannabis operators on formation, contracts, compliance, and disputes. She also continues her teaching career as an adjunct professor at Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Amanda is licensed to practice law in Nevada and New Mexico.
Outside of her legal practice, Amanda shares educational content on business and legal topics through her personal TikTok account where she is known for breaking down complex issues in a straightforward and approachable way.
Jennifer Yee, Esq.
Contract Attorney
Jennifer Yee earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia and began her career as a nurse in Chicago. While working, she continued her education at Rush University, where she received her Master of Science in Nursing and became an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
After several years in Indiana, Jennifer moved to Las Vegas, where she practiced as an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner. During that time, she also helped open and manage her family’s orthopedic surgery practice, taking on both clinical and operational responsibilities. Alongside her career, she raised her three children, balancing professional growth with family life.
With a long-standing interest in law, particularly at the intersection of healthcare and policy, Jennifer went on to earn her law degree from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, graduating cum laude with a concentration in Dispute Resolution and Health Law. After passing the Nevada Bar, she worked with the Nevada Eviction Mediation Program, helping landlords and tenants navigate housing challenges and access COVID-19 relief resources during a critical time.
Jennifer is licensed to practice law in Nevada and currently focuses her legal work on cannabis regulatory compliance. She advises businesses on navigating Nevada’s evolving cannabis laws, including licensing, operational compliance, and risk management. Drawing on her healthcare background, she brings a practical and informed perspective to regulatory matters, helping clients operate responsibly within a complex and rapidly changing industry.
